Main design concept was to bring world countries and culture to Hong Kong. We put 120 pavilion, 120 different nations in one place, in Hong Kong. Every country will have 10x10m foot print, 11m height, 1100 m3 of space to built their own pavilion with high standard of modern architecture and ecologies. Government of Hong Kong can organize every year world exhibition of architecture and art, Hong Kong will have BIENNALE.
Pavilion can be used to accommodate international students of art and architecture and they will represent their own countries and culture thought exhibitions, installations and performances. People who live in Hong Kong will have interesting place for walk, jogging, cycling, enjoying great world art.
Due to height standards of ecology all pavilion must have green roofs and buildings that use secondary source of energy such as solar energy, an energy producer, rather than consumer.
This kind of programs will attract many foreigners to come to hong kong and see Hong Kong biennale, in a same tame economy will grow such as number of people who will visit hong kong.
Each pavilion will have three different parts: ground floor-exhibition space, souvenir shop and small cafe where they can represent domestic food and drinks, first floor-work shops, second floor-apartment and roof with the roof garden.
With this concept of design victoria harbor will become more vibrant, attractive, accessible and most important harbor for people.
The prime objective is to improve connectivity between the city and the new waterfront of hong kong as well as connectivity between people and culture.
New zoning concept should not distract existing ozp. Layer concept of zoning should improve current ozp in meter of communication between programs and facilities. All current spaces in existing ozp basically remain the same such as P1 circulation road, P2 circulation road, Water edge of the reclamation, Airport Railway Express Extension, Culverts, Pumping stations and Ferry Piers.
Basic idea is to combine programs of whole waterfront area and programs of pavilion, in order to have more interesting spaces, cultural and leisure facilities, public enjoyment, and to provide maritime and logistic hub.
All pavilions have strict regulation in meter of dimensions, no more then 10x10m foot print and 11m height therefore is not need for deep foundation. Other programs such as sport facilities, shopping centers, commercial buildings, hotels, botanic gardens, open cinema, children playground are extend over the whole waterfront area.
All roofs of new buildings and pavilions have green roofs (roof gardens)
Connection to the urban context and integration with the busy public transport as well as pedestrian movements is a major driver of our proposal.
All new building at the watherfront area have maximum height of 25m or 4 stories.
In order to have architecture full of diversity every country will be asked by Hong Kong government to give architectural proposal of their pavilion trough the competition organized by the country government.
