Extending and enhancing the existing structures is the main objective of the “Harbour Front” design. Its three different zones – sports/activities, entertainment/culture and Business – ensure upgraded functionality and appearance. The Entertainment/Culture zone, located next to the existing Exhibitionscentre, is characterized by the multifunctional stage, where a huge variety of different events can be hosted. Furthermore, exhibitions and other cultural activities vitalize the surrounding area. Enrichment of the quality of life also states the main objective of the designed sports and activity zone. Besides traditional sports activities like tennis, soccer, jogging and track&field, also exceptional activities like climbing and skating will be offered. The leisure time facilities are supplemented by the nearby park area. The IFC Tower will centre the commercial and business zone, incorporating office facilities, retail shops and the corresponding underground parking lots. Consequently, the adaptation and integration of the traffic system (especially streets P1 and P2) represented another critical issue. Moreover, the construction of promenades and boardwalks for pedestrians ensures a coordinated and reliable traffic system. An interface zone combines all three zones and should serve as linking area between busy and relaxed areas of the designed complex, corresponding to our mission of “providing a highly valuable and memorable experience to all visitors”. Among each other the three different zones are linked via a so-called interface zone, which also serves as connection to the existing building structures. The coordination of this interface zone with the fixed traffic system in combination with integration of shops, restaurants and bars transform the rigid connection path to a flexible interspace, providing the basis for creative planning.
